Support » Plugin: Contact Form 7 » Placeholder and akismet together break form

  • I have just tried to style the contact form using placeholder option as below

    [text* akismet:author your-name placeholder “Name (required)”] </p>
    [email* akismet:email your-email placeholder “Email (required)”] </p>
    [textarea text-4 placeholder “Enquiry”] </p>
    <p>[submit “Send Enquiry”]</p>

This works but when I received my email it looked like this

    From: [your-name] <[your-email]>
    Tel: [tel-54]

If I remove the akisment text the form works as expected with the placeholder text

How do I include akisment in the form and use placeholder?

    See How Tags Work

akismet:author is an option. You can’t place an option before the name (your-name).

My Contact form works great before I add the the Akismet-related options.
    Current name before adding changes.
    Name*[text* text-customer-name placeholder “Your Name”]

However as soon as I add the Akismet-related example text “akismet:author” within the form, the form will not send!

New name of the sender code that now includes Akismet-related options.
    Name*[text* text-customer-name akismet:author placeholder “Your Name”]

I can’t see why it’s not working , I’ve followed the example. The only difference from the example is the word “placeholder”

The form has been saved I’ve even tried using different browsers, but the form will not send.

    Can you please help?

    Many thanks
