    Hi there!

I am not sure what hook to use to put the checkbox before the place order button. It’s there currently because I am using a different plugin but I am switching over so I’d like to keep it the same: http://www.colormeforum.com/store

Also can you please confirm: is sync syncing accounts or orders?

    Thank you!

  • Hey there @alundra,

Thanks for posting. I’d be glad to help out.

You will want to use a form action hook on the Store Settings tab of the plugin’s settings. That being said, the particular hook to use will depend on the theme being used and the customized layout of any given WordPress site, so I’m afraid I would not be able to specify the hook you’d want to use in this case. That being said, I would recommend reaching out to the developers of your site’s theme to find the proper hook. Additionally, you can reference all the available hooks in WooCommerce here: https://docs.woocommerce.com/wc-apidocs/hook-docs.html

In regards to syncing, this plugin will only be syncing orders and will not sync accounts.

Let us know if you have any questions! We’re happy to help.

My theme doesn’t edit the checkout template (or any woocommerce templates unfortunately), and I have no idea what hook would put the checkbox above the place order button at all….I looked through searching for place and order and all sorts of things, I have literally no idea.

Thanks for the clarification re sync but if you could help a teeny bit more with the hook that would rock!

    Hey @alundra,

Thanks for your reply. While our troubleshooting may be limited as this falls a bit outside the MailChimp For WooCommerce plugin, I can take a quick peek and see if I can assist in finding the proper hook to use!

When navigating to https://www.colormeforum.com/checkout/ , I’m afraid I can’t locate a “place order” button. The only option I am seeing is the option to checkout using Paypal and a checkbox above the “Proceed to PayPal” button that reads “Subscribe for updates, competitions, giveaways, sneak peeks, discounts, coupons, and more!”

If you could clarify a bit where exactly you were trying to add the checkbox, a screenshot could help me get up to speed with where you are looking.

Thanks in advance! I look forward to your reply.

    Thanks so much for helping!

I want it exactly where the “Subscribe for updates, competitions, giveaways, sneak peeks, discounts, coupons, and more!” checkbox is. That’s from another plugin and I want to replace it with this one :).

    Hey @alundra ,

Thanks for your patience waiting on my reply here. I spent some time doing some digging here, and found that the particular hook you’ll want to use to have the checkbox appear just before the “Proceed to PayPal” button is:

    woocommerce_review_order_before_submit

This will place the Subscription Checkbox right above the button to complete an order, as pictured in this screenshot from a testing environment: https://cl.ly/2a1J040y2y2M

All this being said, I know that Hook Reference can be cumbersome to comb through. I did some sleuthing through the Plugin directory and was able to find one third party tool that might be of some help in the future.

This plugin, “Simply Show Hooks”, allows someone to view where each hook appears on the site itself and makes it easy to find the specific hook to use based on where you’d like the checkbox to show up. If interested, you can find it here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/simply-show-hooks/ . That said, this plugin is developed be a separate team, and if you have any questions about it, it would be best to reach out to the developers of the plugin on that plugin’s page.

Thanks for all your patience working through this with me! Don’t hesitate to touch base with us should you have any other questions about the MailChimp For WooCommerce plugin.

Have a great rest of your week,
    Malachite
