• Hello, my site crashes each time I tried to update the plugins, no matter which plugin I try. I suspect it has something to do with the interaction between plugins and the theme I am using – Pique. Btw, I am using Godaddy’s WordPress Hosting service, but they advised this is a web content issue.

This problem happened after the latest WordPress version update.

Does anybody have similar issue? I have managed to get the site to work using backups, but eventually I’d like to be able to use the latest versions of the plugins.

    Help much appreciated. Thanks!

To add, my website now crashes fairly often even without updating the plugins, and I had to keep going back to the backup versions to make it work. But this is apparently not sustainable. Thank you for your help in advance.

    Hi @winmoreuk,

I suspect it has something to do with the interaction between plugins and the theme I am using – Pique.

What the exact error message you are seeing which suggests the Pique theme is causing the problem?

I am using Godaddy’s WordPress Hosting service, but they advised this is a web content issue.

Is your browser crashing or does the site itself become unavailable? If you didn’t do so last time, it would be worth asking GoDaddy to check their error logs. That may provide more information about what is happening at a server level when the site crashes.

    Hi @gemmaevans

    Thanks for your message.

As to why I suspect the Pique theme is causing the problem, it is because whenever I try to download/activate/deactivate a plugin, my website would crash. I am not sure if it has anything to do with the Pique theme.

To your 2nd quesiton, my browser is fine, it is the site that became unavailable. Sometimes it shows there is a scheduled maintenance, and the site is back to normal after a while; but more often it never came back, and I had to use backup to make it work again. And then suddenly it will stop working again, when I do anything with the plugins, or in the middle of updating a page’s content.

As a non-techie, it is a bit difficult for me to follow the trouble shooting guide, but I’d rather not pay for Godaddy’s premium service if there’s any other way around.

    Thanks again.

    Hi @winmoreuk,

It sounds unlikely the issue is caused by Pique but you can test this by switching to another theme like Twenty Nineteen, then activating, deactivating or updating plugins again.

If the same problem occurs, that points to an issue on GoDaddy servers. In which case, they will be the best people to help you troubleshoot further.
