# Pingback And Trackback…

 * Ok, I’ve searched around and am still not clear on what Pingback and Trackback
   is. What the heck are they and what do I do with them?

 * It seems that most people just disable theme these days. 🙂
 * In short, it’s an easy way for a blog that links to you to notify you of that
   link. Imagine an automated comment saying, “Hey, I just linked to this post, 
   check out my post!”
 * Of course, it’s also a really easy way to spam a blog.

 * Cool. I’ll just disable them as well. I went to:
 * Settings -> Discussion
 * And unchecked “Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks)”
 * Is that the only place? And what about:
 * “Attempt to notify any blogs linked to from the article”

 * That will only set the default to disable it on future posts/pages. If you have
   any existing posts/pages, you’ll need to edit the post/page, scroll below the
   editor to the Discussion box, and uncheck “Allow trackbacks and pingbacks on 
   this page.”
 * If you don’t see the Discussion box below the post editor, click the Screen Options
   tab near the top-right and check “Discussion.”
 * > And what about: “Attempt to notify any blogs linked to from the article”
 * That setting controls whether or not you send Pingbacks. You can leave it enabled
   or disable it, it depends on how you feel about it. 🙂
