  • I don’t see this asked here and I don’t remember it happening before this version. So maybe I just missed it before or maybe it is new with 2.8.4.

Anyway what happens is if I schedule a post that has a link to a previous post of mine, when I schedule it, the previous post immediately gets a pingback in the comments. Why does WP not wait until the post goes live to insert the pingback in the older post? Not only is it odd as the pingback references a post that is scheduled, but not yet published, but if someone clicks the link in the PB, they get the “nothing found” message.

Is there a reason it works like this?

  • Does anyone else see this behavior? I just scheduled another post and it did the same thing, adding the pingback entry to the comments of a post at the time of scheduling rather than at the time of publishing. I am pretty sure WordPress did not use to do this.
