    Hello Camille,

I just installed the plugin and it looks amazing, clean and easy to use.

I have a fairly big blog with about 500+ articles I need to pin on the map. Mainly in Asia (India to Japan).

I have started to pin everything (blue for normal articles, red for guides & yellowish for hotels) but I have noticed after a few hours that some articles were not appearing on the map.

It was easy to spot because there were a lot of red pin missing, after checking carefully most of the articles I have also noticed a few normal articles were missing from the map.

First I thought I had forgotten to update the post, but since then I have updated it 3 or 4 times each and they still won’t appear on the map. I have not idea what is the problem and how to fix it.

Some really “heavy” articles (about 6000 words + dozens of pictures) are appearing on the map, while others (quite basic one with 1000 words and regular pictures) are not showing on the map.

I was wondering if there were a limit to the amount of articles I could pin ? Could it be a problem from my server of something like this ?

I have no filter on my map, and the articles not appearing are quite random (can be for Laos, can be for Vietnam, Japan, etc.) I mean no specific category or tag.
I have barely changed any initial setting from the plugin.

I am not sure where to look at, I tried to look on the support here but I did not see anything related to my problem 🙂

For example the 2 articles below are not appearing on the map even thought I have pinned them like 3-4 times (indeed updating the post, etc.):

    Cheers!

And to make it even clearer: It’s basically as if the process of pinning an article was working 60% of the time ; at the beginning it was smooth and I had no bug on the process, but now there are just many articles not loading into the map. It seems like half are working even though I do exactly the same stuff (the marker is on the map, Latitude & Longitude are filled, etc.). And I have already regenerated all my thumbnails.

    Dear Brice,

Nice website, I’m glad you are using my plugin 😉

To answer your first question, no there is no limit in the plugin. I saw someone having 1500+ markers on their map. Maybe a plugin or theme function is interfering?

    Let’s debug together:
    1. Could you tell me if the marker is set on the post edit page of a broken pin? Or is it empty there?
    2. Did you try some filters on the shortcode to see if the posts not appearing in the global map are showing there? You could add a “test” tag on a post to test the shortcode with a tag filter.
    3. Does the “not showing pins” change sometime?
    4. Do you have a caching plugin that could be disabled temporarly just to be sure?
    5. I just checked on your website: You have no error in the console, and 246 markers are loaded. If you know what I’m talking about and if it can help you with testing, you can type into your console “cttm_meta” to see the variable with every markers sent to the map.
    6. There might be a plugin incompatibility on the “not saving posts”, do you have anything that could trigger an error on some posts and not other?
    7. I don’t like this solution but sometime it helps (it’s magical, that’s why I don’t like it): you could reinstall the plugin to see if it’s fixing the issue. The markers will be kept, only the plugin general settings will be reset.

Let me know and we will continue 🙂
    Have a nice day,
    Camille

    Hello 🙂

Your plugin is great, it looks good, great to use on mobile, etc.

I found the solution, to anybody having “pin” not appearing on the map after updating an article, you might have a look below (I am not sure it will fix it, but at least it gives you an idea):

    Questions you asked :
1: I dont understand the question, everytime I open a page from the backoffice (to edit apost) the map i empty, even if the post already appears on the map.
2: Yes it does not work, I tried with Vietnam Category for example
    3: Nop, always the same
4: I removed it already, I had issues with galleries earlier avec cache 🙂
5: Inspect and search for the cttm_meta only shows me the post which appears on the map. There is no posts which would be “pushed” to the plugin and which does not appear later-on (I can’t have the entire list, only the few ones appearing). I have created another map for Iran (none of the post for Iran works on the map, I have no idea why) and even with the map – [travelers-map cats=iran] – the map remains empty (updating articles both before & after creating the map cats=iran).
6: Nop, I dont use that many plugin. I use Jetpack but everything related to lazy loading is turned off.
7: I did and it has not changed anything 😀

Profile of the articles not appearing on the map:
I have had a look at all the articles which are not appearing, and they all have the same pattern:
    -quite old articles (2 years+)
-Generally large & bigs articles, guide with 5000+ words
-Engaging content to the community with a lot of comments (not only, but most).

After checking carefully a few articles I realized that :
-Comments & trackback were disabled (even though they were supposed to be open, it’s a bug I have sometime with articles automatically closing comments)
-They were also in general quite long articles to update (I mean, when I click on update it takes 10 seconds because most of the articles are really heavy server-wise).

I had a look at ALL the articles, ALL the articles which were not appearing on the map had the same issue (comments & tracks disabled in the “discussion” option, even though my setting / Discussion is perfectly setup in WordPress).

    SOLUTION: Use Gutenberg Editor

Yep, when I use Gutenberg Editor and pin the article on the map it works instantly. The same article with the “normal/old” editor would not appear on the map (even after trying 1 million time), with Gutenberg it does instantly. I have no idea why but it works so I am happy 🙂

    Thanks !

Well I’m glad you succeeded 🙂
But activating Gutenberg is not a valid solution for me because I developed the plugin to be classic editor compatible 🤔

If you have the time to look at your console in the editing area, to check if travelers map or leaflet have an error, that would be great 🙂 I will also try on my end when I have some time.

    Have nice day,
    Camille
