Support » Plugin: Share Buttons by AddThis » Pin it button not showing thumbnails on e-commerce pages

  • I’m using the shopp plugin for e-commerce on my blog. The pinterest button works fine on my blog posts (other than not showing the pin count). But in my shop (which is part of my blog), when you click on the pin-it button, the dialog box that shows up shows a bunch of blank boxes that say “preferred image”. Or there are boxes with colored horizontal bands going across half the box where the image should be. If you click on one of the blank boxes to chose it, then sometimes it shows the image to pin. But, you don’t know which one you are going to get.

    I am wondering if it has to do with the size of the images–my product pages create very small thumbnails–maybe it’s trying to pull the small thumbnails instead of the actual image.

    I had been using a different plugin for pinterest along with addthis, and it worked fine in my shop. How can I get the addthis pinterest button to work properly so I don’t have to ue 2 plugins for this?

    Here’s a link to two of my product pages:

    Here is the custom code I’m using:

    <!-- AddThis Button BEGIN -->
    <div class="addthis_toolbox addthis_default_style">
    <a class="addthis_button_facebook_like" fb:like:layout="button_count"></a>
    <a class="addthis_button_tweet"></a>
    <a class="addthis_button_google_plusone" g:plusone:size="medium"></a>
    <a class="addthis_button_pinterest_pinit" pi:pinit:layout="horizontal"></a>
    <a class="addthis_counter addthis_pill_style"></a>
    <!-- AddThis Button END -->

  • Did you ever figure this out? I am having the same issue. My button works, but the image for the button is not showing up.

    I believe it had to do with the thumbnails. So I ended up not using the pinterest button through the addthis plugin. I’m using a pinterest for shopp plugin for it and it works fine–it seems to “understand” that they are thumbnails, and hooks into the actual image. Let me know if you’re using the Shopp plugin for your e-commerce, and I can maybe help you to use addthis + the shopp pinterest.

    I have it working on one site fine, but another site using Foxyshop doesn’t like it for some reason. The functionality works, but the button image is not showing up. I will find a work-around. Thanks for replying!
