Always fails after some time, have to go into shitty PHP config to raise memory limits to get it going again. Finally the piece of crap dies completely. And all this to redirect to a fucking ZIP file. Very frustrating experience.

I apologize. This wasn’t the first time I all a sudden get email from people telling me they couldn’t download. And always it has been a frustrating experience to trouble shoot because it’s a terrain I am no expert in. PHP settings and databases are alien to me, and to be fair, a bit intimidating. Stressful.

In the past I had to modify PHP settings, increase memory limits, this time this was no solution although I did those things again. Still no luck. People could not download and neither could I as anonymous user. Trying to get into the dashboard for SDM crashed the website.

Online solutions all assume you know your way around on a WordPress website and suggest all kinds of files to be edited. I think many people chose WP just because they need a website. Not because they want to become WP experts.

Google Analytics has a similar way of doing of complicating matters to the max, even if people just want some simple website stats.

In the end I got it going by going into phpmyadmin (or something) and delete the database that keeps track of number of downloads, IP addresses and such. Plus I for each download ticked the setting to ignore global setting for requiring login to download (already set to no login required).

I will increase stars because it’s very positive of you to offer help.
