Support » Plugin: Slideshow » Pictures not loading unless internet connected

  • This probably isn’t very common use case, but here goes. We moved our whole WordPress installation to allow some students access to their created websites at an FBLA contest.

There will be limited, if any internet access, so we creting some static entries in place of some dynamic one, such as Google Maps and another plugin. The slideshow is fine when connected to the internet, then fine for a little while after, but the slideshow eventually stops working until connected.

The file locations show localhost, and I went through and changed the URL in our database from our domain to localhost, so I’m not sure what else to do. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

WordPress saves the file locations to at least two tables, perhaps some data in the ‘wp_postmeta’ table is still not adapted. With the Google Chrome browser you can right click on the page to ‘Inspect element’. This will let you show warnings and errors and therefore will help you find where the website is looking for its images.

The website links are showing as being located on localhost, but I will look at the wp_postmeta tables.

We did select Inpect Element and found that when connected to the internet, there are calls being made to Google API. When disconnected, those calls are being made. Would that possibly be the cause?

The Google API is most likely called by the Google Maps plugin. It shouldn’t have anything to do with the images loading incorrectly.

Got it. I appreciate the quick response.

    I’ll check it out today.
