I wish there was an easy way to load a picture on the side bar like in Blogger. I have read the posts in the forum, but they still are not clear to me. I had added a text box widget and my picture link...but only the text is published and not the actual image. Am I missing more htlm? Is WordPress ever going to have an "ADD PICTURE" widget?

Add a Text Widget. Edit it.
Add: <img src="http://whereyourimageis.jpg" width="the desired size in pixels" height="the desired size in pixel">. Now you have the image in the sidebar.

Note that http://whereyourimageis.jpg should be the path to your actual image, like: if you want to add the picture of the day from Wikimedia Commons to your sidebar, you will use this path: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/2b/ST_vs_LOU_-_21.jpg/600px-ST_vs_LOU_-_21.jpg

Use it like this <img src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/2b/ST_vs_LOU_-_21.jpg/600px-ST_vs_LOU_-_21.jpg" width="the desired size in pixels" height="the desired size in pixel">

The width and height should contain numeric values, like width="200px" height="200px"
