• I really love the clean look of the vortex theme, but I’d like to add a picture to the header instead of the name and description. I’ve had no trouble deleting the name and description, but I can’t seem to get a picture to appear. I’ve tried changing the header.php and creating a child theme (which isn’t going well) with no luck.

    Any suggestions?

  • Make sure that you put in Site Title and Site Description ( Tag line ) under General Settings.

Go to Appearance > Header and upload the header image there.

Thank you for your quick reply. My appearance tab doesn’t have a header option. It’s a wordpress version that was upgraded to 3.5.1. My appearance only has “themes” and “editor” as options — it seems like there were more options there before the upgrade.

Just for fun, I installed a new wordpress 3.5.1 in a test folder and the new version has “themes”, “widgets”, “menus”, “header”, “background”, “vortex options”….aha, there’s a clue.

In my upgraded wordpress, I haven’t activated the Vortex theme because I didn’t want to completely trash my site until I had tested a few things out. I’m assuming maybe these extra options come with the vortex install?

Btw, I tried your solution on the test blog and it worked! Thank You!
