# PHP/JS/Jquery RESTAPI WP Dev Query

    0 down vote favorite I’m learning JS/JQuery and PHP MYSQL on the fly
   towards becoming a WordPress Developer.
 * What are the top 3 things that you are requested to do with JS/JQuery on a wordpress
   site for a client?
 * What are the top 3 things that you are requested involving PHP/MYSQL for on a
   wordpress site for a client?
 * And what is so important about RESTAPI? What does a client want with that?
 * (if I get my hand slapped for asking two questions..fine.)

 * That’s 3 questions 🙂 Multiple questions aren’t much of a violation, but asking
   non-support questions kind of is. Since it is WP related I’ll let it slide, but
   another mod could still intervene.
 * Maybe others have very different experiences with clients, but I’ve found there
   is very little need for actual full on development. There’s lots of theme and
   plugins that do all sorts of things. If I’m developing, I’m likely reinventing
   the wheel. Most of my work involves making adjustments to existing code. Most
   of it is actually CSS related. Sometimes PHP gets involved. JS, jQuery, and SQL
   are very rarely dealt with. Most of my work is more maintenance than development.
   For example, client writes: “Google Search Console lists a bunch of problems 
   it found on my site, make them go away.”
 * The REST API is useful in many ways. Probably most importantly is it gives mobile
   apps a way to interface with a WP site. Devs that work in other languages besides
   PHP and jQuery will make use of REST to interact with WP.
