Support » Requests and Feedback » PHP8 Full support

  • I understand it’s a work in progress, but 28 Nov 2022 PHP 7.4 will end with security updates and there are still deprecated warnings in WordPress 6.0 with Beta support for PHP 8 (even it works fine). Is there any planed WordPress version when this will be changed to full support instead of beta?

And PHP 8.3 is planned to be released November 24, 2022. Is there a planned version when WordPress will support PHP 8.3 as there is Major changes?

    Deprecated warnings in WP 6.0:

    wp-includes/functions.php
    wp-includes/Requests/Cookie/Jar.php
    wp-includes/Requests/Utility/CaseInsensitiveDictionary.php
    wp-includes/formatting.php
    wp-includes/pomo/plural-forms.php
    wp-includes/Requests/Transport/cURL.php

    Thanks!

  • As you rightly say, this is already in progress. In the core trac there are several tickets for this that are being worked through piece by piece by developers. If you have specific cases to which you want a solution, check whether there is already a ticket for this and attach yourself to it or create a new one. For example, here is one for various cases in PHP 8.2: https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/56790

Since you didn’t mention any specific messages here, but only files, it’s not possible to give you a more detailed answer. Here is the search in the core trac: https://core.trac.wordpress.org/search
