I am trying to upgrade from php4 to 5 on 1and1 (so I can upgrade to WP3.1) but all the fine instructions neglect to include information for someone like me who doesn’t know the first thing about getting access to the correct area. I have tried via Webspace Explorer and ftp but can’t find a place to add anything. In the root directory there is an “info.php” folder but all it has inside is “<? phpinfo(); ?>”.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Samuel B, Thanks for responding but that is precisely my problem. How do I access that file?

ah – with an ftp client or through the host’s file manager
if you use ftp make sure it’s set to view hidden files

Thanks so much. That will make a big difference.
