    Please double-check that uploads directory is writable by PHP. The plugin usually creates a small “lock file” in there that it uses to ensure it doesn’t send the same email notification twice.

    One (indirect) way to check file permission would be to try to upload an image to the media library.

    Ah, got it! Thanks. After the last move somebody just set the rights for the subdirectories 2014, 2015 and so on, but not for the main upload dir. Therefore the media upload worked fine and nobody noticed it.
