Sorry for all the trouble! Could you give me the exact line number, so I can take a closer look and get this fixed?

    Thank you.

I’m having the same problem. Line 11.

“PHP Notice: Array to string conversion in /home/someti14/public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/modules/tiled-gallery/tiled-gallery/templates/partials/carousel-image-args.php on line 11”

    @sometimesinteresting Thanks for reaching out!

I’m not quite sure that’s the same file as the one @fdecicco mentioned, but the cause may be the same.

Do you use any other plugins that may add extra meta data to your images, or edit existing meta data? If so, could you try to deactivate those plugins?

If it helps, could you let me know the name of the plugin so I can run some tests on my end?

    Thanks!

    Thanks for the response Jeremy.

I use WP Smush, which is an image compression plugin. The other plugins I use are: AdControl (WP ads), Akismet, Jetpack, Updraft Plus, and Wordfence. I haven’t changed any in awhile though, and I have been keeping everything updated to latest version.

    Cheers.

Do you think you could deactivate WP Smush for a little bit, try to publish a new post with brand new images you’ve uploaded while WP Smush was deactivated, and let me know if the problem remains with those images?

Will do Jeremy, thanks for your response and attention to my issue.

I disabled WP Smush after our last conversation and have no plugins that touch images or deal with compression. After a couple of days I’m still seeing the errors:

“[20-Oct-2017 12:11:43 UTC] PHP Notice: Array to string conversion in /home/someti14/public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/modules/tiled-gallery/tiled-gallery/templates/partials/carousel-image-args.php on line 11”

I’m getting about 50 of them per day.

I pulled the file from my server, here’s what is on line 11:

    “$fuzzy_image_meta = json_encode( array_map( ‘strval’, $fuzzy_image_meta ), JSON_HEX_TAG | JSON_HEX_AMP | JSON_HEX_APOS |”

I do not know what this means unfortunately, hoping you can help. Thanks!

The errors may still pop up for existing images that were created while WP Smush was active. Deactivating the plugin won’t change the meta data assigned to all your images unfortunately.

Would you have a way to create a new gallery with brand new images you upload today, without the plugin, and then load that gallery while looking at your log?

Once you have done that, and if you saw no issues, try to load another gallery on your site, including images that were created while WP Smush was active, and check your log again to see if the notices appear then?

Let me know what you find.

Thanks Jeremy again for your attention and follow thru. πŸ™‚

I do understand what you mean by this. Bummer deactivation wasn’t enough to test. I have been going through on my cpanel file manager and re-uploading images I’ve edited in Photoshop to replace previous images. These have been untouched by any plugin. I don’t think it’s putting a dent in the error, which I continue to get throughout the day.

My site has 150+ articles with thousands upon thousands of photos (the site is ~ 7 Gb in size and it’s mostly photos). Is there any way to tell which image or page in particular is having meta data that triggers the problem?

I did a test post after I deactivated WP Smush already, but my questions is this: I was getting the error already before the post, and I’m still getting the error now, so how do I know if the new post with the plugin turned off had any effect?

    Thanks!

You could try to check your logs, then load the page with images that weren’t edited by WP Smush, then reload your logs and see if the images appear there.

Let me know how it goes!

Hi Jeremy, I appreciate your continued support in this thread. πŸ™‚

The error_log doesn’t tell me which image or page is creating the errors, here’s what they say:

“β€œ[20-Oct-2017 12:11:43 UTC] PHP Notice: Array to string conversion in /home/someti14/public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/modules/tiled-gallery/tiled-gallery/templates/partials/carousel-image-args.php on line 11

[24-Oct-2017 12:11:43 UTC] PHP Notice: Array to string conversion in /home/someti14/public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/modules/tiled-gallery/tiled-gallery/templates/partials/carousel-image-args.php on line 11

[24-Oct-2017 12:15:14 UTC] PHP Notice: Array to string conversion in /home/someti14/public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/modules/tiled-gallery/tiled-gallery/templates/partials/carousel-image-args.php on line 11

[24-Oct-2017 12:17:05 UTC] PHP Notice: Array to string conversion in /home/someti14/public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/modules/tiled-gallery/tiled-gallery/templates/partials/carousel-image-args.php on line 11”

And it goes on for like 50 entries per day. Do you know where would I find the information that tells me which image or page is creating the error?

    Thanks!

You can’t really tell right away, which is why I suggested looking at the logs immediately after loading a page with the new images. This way you’ll see if new errors appear in the logs right as you load the page.

    Hi Jeremy,

I was searching for an answer to this problem. In my case I only have it above 1 post out of over 200.

    Here is a screenshot – https://www.screencast.com/t/ObbO3X6u

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

@dangerousdog: Could you please start your own thread, as per the Forum Welcome?

    https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack#new-post

I suggest you also read through this thread and include the information my colleague Jeremy mentioned, such as deactivating WP Smush and checking if the error persists (if you have that plugin), etc.

    Thank you!

I never did get this figured out, so if anyone else does a search and finds this post (like myself and dangerous dog) please let us know what you did to resolve the issue!

    Thanks.
