# PHP memory_limit

    I edited .htaccess files to change php limits When checking back system status
   in the dashboard, changes, new values appear fine except memory_limit, which 
   still remain at the original value. thoughts? Also, I have found .htaccess files
   in a few other subfolders other than the public_html root folder…do I need to
   edit all .htaccess files ? or the one in the root folder will suffice ? many 
   thanks

    when extracting the php info form the page using: <? phpinfo();?
   > I do see there the new value reported…it’s only when I see it through the dashboard
   that the old lower value shows up

 * If you added the code properly and the change doesn’t take place, it most likely
   because your hosting company won’t let you increase it. I’ve been through that.
   So contact them and ask if they allow it. Make sure they double check. In my 
   case, two support guys increased it themselves, and after telling them several
   times that it doesn’t take effect, they checked closely and told me that I have
   to upgrade my hosting package in order to benefit for features like increased
   PHP memory :).
