.PHP is a photo file on my computer

  • When I downloaded the WordPress my computer recognizes all of the files (the .php extension) as photo files and I can’t do anything with them. How do I chage them to files that I can use on the internet????

  • You don’t have to do anything to them. The problem is just the file association. Thank Microsoft for forcing Windows to think .php it’s a graphic format.

However, they are still just text files (try opening them in Notepad), and will work as normal on a web server (even in Windows!).

If you want Windows recognizes it as a php-file, go to the dir where the files are stored, click on Extra and then on Map options (don’t know how it is in English, i use a Dutch version of Windows)
There is a tab file types (again, I use a Dutch version of Windows). Look for PHP and assosciate the right program to open it
