 * been trying for hours but i’m finally breaking down and just asking…
 * can i get some help setting up my wordpress?
 * i followed the instructions, but got the ‘Your PHP installation appears to be
   missing the MySQL extension which is required by WordPress.’ error. it appears
   i need to possibly edit the ‘php.ini’ file, but i don’t see any of the apache,
   php5 or etc servers/directories that this file supposedly exists in.
 * godaddy.com is my host…i just switched my account from windows to linux as i
   read that would fix the problem, but no dice.
 * i ran the phpinfo() file too but i don’t know what to look for.

 * This article might be helpful. [http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory](http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory)

   There are also issues with godaddy with the db_Host section of the wp-config.
   php file. You have to go to your database control panel page and look for a server
   address that looks similar to this p91mysql121.secureserver.net and put that
   into your wp-config.php as your db-Host.

 * i actually do want the blog in it’s own directory as it itself is not to be the
   main so, so unfortunately that article is not helpful to me, but thanks for passing
   it on.
 * wp-config.php has the correct db-Host i copied and pasted directly from the mysql
   database i created.
 * other thoughts?

 * When I go to this site [http://cortlandareatribune.com/blog/wp-admin/install.php](http://cortlandareatribune.com/blog/wp-admin/install.php)
   it shows the install page. I know this seems like an elemetary question but,
   have you tried going through that to do the install? Other than that as long
   as you have a mysql database and all the database information you should be good.
   The only other thing that I can think of of the top of my head would be is to
   upload the wordpress files again and create a new database for the install. The
   codex article referred to above is to install wordpress like you have it, in
   it’s own directory (ie.. /blog/) and it shows what you have to change to make
   it work. That’s why I thought it might be helpful because your blog is in a sub-
   directory of the root.

 * i had been going to that link to do the install, which is where i was getting
   that error.
 * i think switching my account to linux did the trick because last night godaddy
   said it was still ‘changing my services to linux’, and i was getting the error.
   and now as of early this morning, it’s linux and i have the install page.
 * thanks for your assistance!
