PHP file shows up instead of the admin interface..

  • Hello all-
    Well, I’ve successfully installed WP absolutely everywhere else because *my* servers are awesome and use Fantastico which installs everything FOR YOU. However, I’m working on a website for a client and … first of all … his server did not have PHP installed so I had to contact the guy who hosts it to install it. Secondly, I get everything uploaded into the /blog/ folder, and… heh… here’s where the fun problems started.
    I ran http://www.tonyprivett.com/blog/install.php/ and at Step 3 I got the same “Guess Url” that everyone has been getting as well as a blank for the password, as well as a smattering of other errors that I don’t remember/understand. I’m wondering if this means the PHP wasn’t installed correctly on the server! I know absolutely NOTHING about PHP, I’m just a code-writer/designer.
    Anyway…Could anyone help? Every time I try to go to http://www.tonyprivett.com/blog/wp-admin/ I just get the same line of PHP code rather than the wp-admin interface…
    Thanks in advance.
    Meredith

  • To find out if php is installed try this.
    Create a new text file and call info.php (make sure that .txt is not added to the end). Add the line below.
    <?php phpinfo(); ?>
    Upload it to your blog directory and then go to info.php in your browser. If a bunch of information pops up then php is installed.
