 * Hello [Web Guys](https://wordpress.org/support/users/webinfinitynz/),
 * Thank you for contacting Woo support.
 * The [official documentation](https://woocommerce.com/document/server-requirements/#section-1)
   for WooCommerce suggests using PHP version 7.4 or higher.
   I’ve personally been
   running my WooCommerce test site on PHP version 8.3.10, and it’s been working
   perfectly without any problems.
 * Here are my server configuration details:

 * May I ask if you are facing any issues or just asking to confirm?
   I will be happy
   to answer any more questions.
 * Best regards.

 * Thanks for replying. No, I’m not seeing issues. It’s just that, I can’t really
   upgrade to PHP8.3 until it’s officially supported to ensure I don’t have problems
   with support not helping (because it’s not supported).
 * Saying that, since posting this, I’ve found out 8.3 isn’t even supported yet
   in core WordPress, so I guess that will be the thing to wait for.

 * Hi [@webinfinitynz](https://wordpress.org/support/users/webinfinitynz/)
 * Your concern is completely understandable. It’s crucial to ensure that your PHP
   version is officially supported to avoid potential issues. As of now, WooCommerce
   and WordPress recommend PHP version 7.4 or higher. More info:
    - [https://woocommerce.com/document/server-requirements/](https://woocommerce.com/document/server-requirements/)
    - [https://wordpress.org/about/requirements/](https://wordpress.org/about/requirements/)
 * However, some hosting server officially don’t recommend using 8.3 with WooCommerce.

 * We typically align our support with WordPress to ensure compatibility. And as
   far as I know, WordPress also supports 8.3 and shouldn’t create any issues. However,
   some themes and plugins might not yet supported. So, we recommend waiting until
   your hosting, theme, or other plugins officially support PHP 8.3 before upgrading.
 * If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to reach out. We’re
   here to help!

 * Yeah, I think the PHP compatibility with WordPress core is a bit of a chicken
   and egg situation.
 * Maybe it’s WordPress waiting for most (all?) plugins to declare compatibility
   before declaring WordPress core to be compatible. I’ve done this many times (
   over various PHP versions, over a number of plugins in my stack) and I always
   get these answers from plugin devs;
    1. It’s fully compatible. This is the answer I want. It tells me the company is
       not waiting but proactively have tested their plugin with X version of PHP and
       are happy to declare compatibility (just for their plugin, they’re not saying
       WordPress core is compatible).
    2. It’s not officially supported but it ‘should’ work. They’re waiting for WordPress
       to officially support it. I can’t safely upgrade PHP based on this answer.
 * It’s just quite frustrating when a version of PHP was released in Nov 2023 and
   it’s still not officially supported.

 * Oh, I forgot to add this link about WordPress, looks like PHP 8.3 is still in
   BETA (unless anyone has found a more recent update?)

 * Hello [Web Guys](https://wordpress.org/support/users/webinfinitynz/),
 * Thank you for your reply.
 * As you already mentioned, waiting for official support for PHP 8.3 in both WordPress
   and WooCommerce is the best course of action. Upgrading to an unsupported version
   could lead to issues that might not be fully addressed by support, so holding
   off until it’s officially supported is a wise decision.
 * If you have any other questions or need assistance with anything else, let me
   know.
 * Have a great day!
