I don’t believe it is. My client has been trying to upgrade to PHP 8 at WPEngine for a couple months now – every time we would upgrade it, the site would white screen. We just discovered yesterday that GTM4WP is the culprit breaking the site when we upgrade PHP. When deactivated, PHP upgrade goes fine. I have to switch GTM plugins, now.
