Just thought I would let you know with newest version of plugin I switched from 7.3 to 7.4 php version and gmail stopped sending. Reverted to 7.3 and started again with no other changes needed.

    Hi,

did you try to send a “Test email” from the plugin settings page while on the PHP 7.4 version? If it produced an error, what did the detailed error log say?

There is a known issue on some of the 7.4 PHP versions with the PCRE extension for PHP. The error outputted is usually: “invalid email (setFrom)”.

Let me know if that is happening for you as well.

If that is indeed the case, I would like to test some small code change on your site and see if that resolves the issue.

    Have a nice day!

Yes this was from the test email button. If I remember correctly it was a generic error “there was an error” and asked me to check smtp settings password etc. When reverting to previous version php 7.3 and submitting again it worked with no error.

    Hi,

When sending a test email, you get the general error description and some helpful tips on what to do next below the test email form. But at the bottom of the page there is also a dropdown section with the full debug error. This is where the details of the error appear (where the actual error is outputted).

It would be great if you can switch to PHP 7.4 and see what the output of that debug log is. I totally understand if you don’t want to do that since it’s your live production site.

    Take care!
