PHP 7.0.21 without cURL – “some features are disabled”

    Hi there,

    Out of the blue this message has appeared in WP admin today:
    Compress JPEG & PNG images: You are using an outdated platform (PHP 7.0.21 without curl) – some features are disabled

    I’ve been running PHP 7.0 since last Saturday – I’m running v7.0 because v7.1 doesn’t yet have support for PHP-FPM in EasyApache 4 on WHM/cPanel.

    There’s no mention of cURL requirements so please can you:
    * update the requirements info
    * let me know what features have been disabled

    Hi!

    Thanks for your question. It is correct that the message is displayed, as we use cURL for the API requests. When cURL is not available, fopen is used as a fallback.

    The disadvantage is that the error reporting is more basic, however the plugin still works. That means that if the compression still works, there is no need to worry about the warning.
