PHP 5.5 OPcache and WordPress

    Recently my VPS was upgraded to Apache 2.4 and PHP 5.5 so I wanted to try OPcache. The server admins turned it on for me but the site was loading about 1s slower than without it. Is there a tutorial somewhere how to set it up to actually speed up the site and not slow it down?

    Googling didn’t bring much help.
