 * I have a general question. My webhost currently runs PHP 5.3.
    They are going
   to update to PHP 5.4.
 * Does anyone know If I can expect problems with my WordPress install?

 * There are no known issues with PHP 5.4 and WordPress itself as far as I am aware.
   However, themes and/or plugins could be another matter.
