Everything seemed perfect but now I realize that my photos have disappeared. They are correctly displayed on WP pages and the Blog overview, but they have disappeared inside the blog posts, sometimes just leaving the title, sometimes an empty box. Sigh.

What do I need to change in the settings? I have NOT checked the box of WebP converter. And I switched off the AMP extension. Could it be connected to CDN with bunny.net?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hello @faithdanceart

Thank you for reaching out and I am happy to help!
Can you please disable Lazyloading in Performance>General settings, save all settings and purge the cache?
Let me know if the issue persists.

    Thanks!

Hi @vmarko , thank you for your answer. Unfortunately, it did not resolve the problem.

    Hello @faithdanceart

Can you please disable the settings one by one in Performance>general settings, save the settings and purge the cache after each setting is disabled and see which one might be causing the issue?

    Thanks!

Hi @vmarko , I did as you suggested, disabling different settings one by one. It made no difference.

Eventually, I decided to do a backup restore and then start at zero again, working step by step and checking whether the photos were there. Everything worked fine – until I activated and authorized bunny.net. πŸ™ Then the photos disappeared again.

When I disabled bunny.net and the CDN in W3 Total Cache the photos reappeared. To my relief the photos came back. To my dismay your plugin does not seem to be a CDN solution.

I thought you are “hopping together”?

    Hello @faithdanceart

    Thank you for your feedback.

This should not be a problem and yes W3 Total Cache does work great with BunnyCDN. The only thing that may cause issues is if you are using some other plugin to optimize the images which is serving them from the other CDN.

This in fact is the reason why this happens on your website as you are using Optimole. As you can see in the link I posted below, the image is served from the https://mlledft0d0om.i.optimole.com/cb:k0AM.373c2/w:666/h:648/q:mauto/f:best/ig:avif/ instead from your domain and this means that it’s served from the Optimole CDN I assume

    https://mlledft0d0om.i.optimole.com/cb:k0AM.373c2/w:666/h:648/q:mauto/f:best/ig:avif/https://www.juttabluehberger.at/wp-content/fotoupload/Portfolio/621106-transzendenz-struktur-malerei-m.jpg

This is why you experienced issues with missimg images. You can use Bunny CDN in the W3 Total Cache to serve other files from the CDN, however, in this case, you need to add the path to the folder the images are uploaded to in Performance>CDN>Rejected files: area

This will ensure that the images are served from the Optimole CDN, and all other static files from the BunnyCDN.
You can also always, disable the CDN in the Optimole settings and serve them from the CDN

    I hope this helps!

    Thanks!

Thank you @vmarko for pointing out this problem.

I have now deactivated Optimole and I tried W3+Bunny again. It seems to work.

Now I am still testing the WebP conversion to get an even better Speed Score. So far I am not too impressed with the results. Many images are small enough and then the conversion is canceled. “the converted image would be larger …” but the Speed Score should be higher.

Most of my images are in the Next Gen Gallery plugin. I can see in the FTP browser that part of the images have been converted, others have not. It seems that I can’t influence this process. Right? Or is there a way that I can e.g. priortize the conversion of one gallery over another?

    Thanks!

    Hello @faithdanceart

    Thank you for your feedback.
The two images that are importat to be converted to webp are:

    1. https://www.juttabluehberger.at/wp-content/fotoupload/Portfolio/630107-Nacht-Huegel-Rost-Struktur-Malerei-m.jpg
    2. https://wp1website.b-cdn.net/wp-content/uploads/77f731c5-1-scaled-e1693829974865.jpg

The overal performance does not depend if the image is served as webp or not specificaly, as if the images are optimized in some cases there is no need fo coversion

Have youj tried to manually convert these two images to webp?

    Thanks!

Thank you @vmarko for your answer.

I have converted all images and it still does not make a difference in Google Page Speed. It seems that it is not the loading time of these images but of the containers – in this case NextGenGallery and Spectra.
In the first case, when I reorder the images in the gallery, it is always the first image as showing to be too big.
The second case image is 185998 on my website AND served by BunnyCDN shows as 375129 in Goggle PageSpeed.

All the images on this side have been converted. What else can I do?

By the way I have used the EWWW plugin for the conversion and I am wondering what other ways of “manually” converting you might suggest.

    Hello @faithdanceart

The two specific images can be converted manually whe the webp converted in the W3 Total Cache is enabled. This can be done in the media library,
Once he images are converted, it’s importat that the cache is purged so that the cachnes can take place and the website can serve images as webp.
Can you please share if those two images are converted and check this in the Media library?

    Thanks!
