Hi,

On https://jetpack.com/2015/12/04/webp-support/ I read Photon is supposed to deliver webp format as well as optimized jpeg/png/gif to compatible browsers. Yet on https://developer.wordpress.com/docs/photon/ under Limitations it sais: “We only fetch, resize, and serve gif, png, and jpg images…”

Moreover, I’ve never seen any webp being offered to my Chrome browser from the WP.com domains so I suppose webp is no longer supported. Is that the case?

Photon still supports webP. We do indeed fetch gif, png, and jpg images from your site, and then we’ll create a webP version of the image to be used only in browsers that support it.

Here is an example with one of the images on your site, when viewed in Chrome:
