    Hello everyone,

In case anyone on here uses it, I wanted to let you all know that I’ve updated Daikini Software’s old, outdated Photon plugin for iPhoto to be a Universal Binary. I also did a few minor bug fixes.

In case you aren’t aware, Photon allows users to export photos directly from iPhoto into a weblog. It uses XMLRPC, and is compatible with a number of different blogging software programs. Thus far, I’ve only tested this build with WordPress 2.1.3.

The download can be found here:

Hope someone else finds some use from this,

    Tom

I can’t find the download link on that page.

The link has been fixed. Sorry!

I have tried to use this. However, it doesn’t seem to want to work with the information I gave it.

Where can I find Blog ID?
What should the “Access Point” be?

I might just have those things wrong.

My blog ID is set to 0. The access point is the location of the xmlrpc.php file in your WordPress folder. So, if you installed WordPress at:

    http://yourdomain.com/wordpress/

Then the access point would be:

    http://yourdomain.com/wordpress/xmlrpc.php

Any idea what maximum version of iPhoto this plugin will work in? I have iPhoto 6.0.6 and it’s not showing up in the export dialog.

I also have 6.0.6 and from what I have read Photon no longer works with iPhoto. I think the last supported version was iPhoto 5. Would love to find out an alternative.

If anyone is still looking for something to use from iPhoto then I have just found this. It seems to work but have not used it in anger yet.

worpressexport does not seem to work correctly so I have gone back to trying to get photon to work.

I have photon working and configured as per the above but I still get a ‘server error 500’ message when I try to export. Anyone know what could be causing this. Not clear about what directory this is trying to upload to. in my WP 2.2 install I am able to FTP into /wp-content/uploads so the directory is writeable.

Don’t know if anyone else is reading this thread but I have been in touch with the Photon developer and the problem lies with WP 2.2. Apparently the plugin works fine in WP 2.1.3.

No word on a fix for 2.2 yet.

I’ve had the same problem. Glad to know someone is working on this.

Or is anyone working on this?
clockworkoranje, did the developer say he/she was going to address this?

The developer advised me to go back to 2.1.3 but this isn’t an option. As far as I can tell there have been no new releases of either Photon or wordpressexport since I last posted. As far as I know if you are using WP 2.2 then you still can’t upload out of iPhoto.

I am using WP 2.2.1, iPhoto 6.0.6 and the new Photon – and it’s working fine.

New Photon? You mean newer than 1.1.1?

Share please cause this still doesn’t work for me.

    Hi guys.

Please help me test this build of Photon that’s supposed to work for iPhoto ’08 (not sure for iPhoto ’06, though). Also added new features like making single posts for all pictures selected, photo captions and a “Prologue” editor…

Photon is originally from Daikini.com, and since they open-sourced it and I wanted an iPhoto ’08 version so badly, I made a build out of the source. Please send feedbacks at jofell [at] jofell [dot] com

    Thanks.
