Photon CDN and cropped images gone wild

    Good morning

    For a pretty long time I have this on my theme’s functions.php

    add_image_size( ‘sq-480’, 480, 480, true );

    and that on my front page’s loop
    the_post_thumbnail( ‘square-480’ );

    What I expect to happen (and what truely was the deal till some days ago) is to print an image hard cropped at 480 x 480

    With no apparently related code change, some days ago this stopped working correctly

    And this has happened some months ago and then it was “fixed” on its own

    <rant>
    WHY?

    I code WP sites and promote WP philosophy the last 13 years

    Now, this makes me look unreliable to my clients

    Dear James, maybe I need to clarify what I’ve written before

    Unfortunately, I do not need support for customizing.

    My code was working flawlessly.
    I did not change the code.
    Some parts of my sites are broken.

    Do I need to contact some place else for jetpack/photon bugs?

    According to the links you ve provided, my code is (well … was) enough to provide a square image. But it stopped working and I didnt do it 🙂

    just to correct a typo:

    functions.php
    add_image_size( ‘square-480’, 480, 480, true );

    and then index.php
    the_post_thumbnail( ‘square-480’ );

    any suggestions (apart from forgetting jetpack after all these years) are welcome
