Photon breaking image URLs

    I noticed this on my sister’s blog and had to disable Photon to get all thumbnails working properly again.

    Broken image URLs look like http://i2.wp.com/[domain]/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2013/12/IMG_0560.jpg?resize=280%2C640 whereas working image URLs look like http://[domain]/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2013/12/IMG_0560-280x640.jpg

    The image files I see on the server look like this. I don’t know why there’s no IMG_0560.jpg and only the resized ones exist. This is with a standard WordPress multi-site install with very few plugins (just Akismet and Wordfence Security).

    Thanks for the report. I added this thread to the existing ticket here:

    Until we fix the issue, I’m afraid I can only recommend that you avoid uploading images using a filename similar to WordPress’ default resized images. If you remove the size parameters from your image filenames before to upload them to your site, you won’t experience any issues.

    I’ll have to ask my sister as it’s her site, but as far as I’m aware she’s doing all the resizing in WordPress itself, and is not using an external tool at all.
