    @justpurple – I believe this will be corrected in the next major release of NextGEN Gallery.

    From our internal notes regarding the upcoming “fix” …

    “If users want to know how to change this themselves they need to update nextgen_basic_slideshow.js:32 to read:

    self.prepend('<img class="image-placeholder" src="' + placeholder + '" width="' + s.width + '" height="' + s.height + '" style="width: ' + s.width + 'px; height: auto;" />');

    See if that helps … remember to make a backup before making any edits. Also to note, this has already been committed so no need to worry about the update overwriting this.
