Photoblog - looking for a theme, help needed! (7 posts)

    Hi everybody
I make a premise first: I am not using WordPress yet but I am going to very soon, since I just moved my domain to a hosting that provides WP easy installing.
I will need to start a photoblog and I am looking for a theme (if possible free) very simple.
You may have a look at my actual website imaginevenice.com to have an idea of the style I need to fit.
What I'd like to have is, of course, a white background and:
    - a banner on top where to put my blog name/logo with a navbar just under the banner
-a single main photo on the left of the page (taking about 3/4 of the page width)
-a column on the right side of the page (1/4 of page width) where to put menus, links, banners etc
-a text field for description just under the photo
    -comments field
And, oh, a page where to display all images as thumbnails.
Most of all, I'd like a design to display a single image/post in each page with links to older/newer posts rather than the scroll down layout with many different posts in the same page.
It's probably a rather common layout but I had to describe it in details since I don't have a sample in mind!
    Thanks for your help

    Hi fabthi,

Snapshot looks like it might fit the bill: http://www.woothemes.com/2008/10/snapshot/

It's a free premium quality theme. It has space for your logo with a menu bar underneath. The photo/post pages have the photo on left with sidebar on right and description below.

Did you check wordpress.org themes section?

Well, generally, getting photo blogging themes are rare in free area. There are good ones, But as you are new user and if you want more features, i suggest you go for premium ones.

There are lots of free photo blogging themes too. Recently i find one culture that the themes are encrypted in footer or functions.php or in any file. Personally i think they are risky to use. So avoid them.

If you think you need more information, you can contact me vijayrajesh@gmail.com

Please bear with me but I don't understand what you exactly mean with this: "Recently i find one culture that the themes are encrypted in footer or functions.php or in any file."
I am not looking for a complicated theme, maybe something like this http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/life-is-simple could be okay, it fits my website http://www.imaginevenice.com.
Too bad you can't have a look at it now, it's out of service for a transfer. But it's basically a white background theme, very clean and simple.
What I'd like to understand however is how much room for customization is possible when using these free themes.
