    Hi, I’m new at this. I would love to use Photo Gallery instead of WordPress’s built-in gallery because it offers advantages for my website which is very much still “under construction”.

    On a normal laptop screen, both galleries (see 2 links above to the 2 pages with galleries) show 5 columns of identical-sized thumbnails, which is what I would like to have.

    On a small screen, however, Photo Gallery responds with 2 columns of relatively large-sized thumbnails, whereas the WordPress gallery maintains the 5 columns by reducing the thumbnails in size. Although the thumbnails are quite small, I prefer this rather than the larger 2-column responsible solution of Photo Gallery. Is there any way to achieve this 5 column approach on small screens by “tweaking” settings in Photo Gallery? Or does the Photo Gallery plugin not allow this?

    Thanks in advance.

    Fritz.

    Dear Fritz,

    Could you please try to activate Resizable thumbnails option in Options > General section? See here.

    Please let us know if it helps.

    Thank you!

    Have a nice day!

    Thank you so much for the prompt reply!

    I did have the Resizable option activated in my settings of Photo Gallery. And just now “reset” and saved everything one more time, just in case. Unfortunately, that did not change things for small screens — it continues to show 2 columns on my small screen and 5 on the laptop. The WP gallery does show 5 columns on either screen size, reducing the thumbnails as needed on the small screen. The Photo gallery doesn’t seem to reduce them at all on the small screen but drops down to 2 columns instead.

    I would love to use the Photo gallery because it allows both showing the title of the photo on hover and redirection to an URL on clicking.

    Anything else I could try?

    Thanks,

    Fritz.

    Dear Fritz,

    The URL address which you have provided is not correct. We could not open your page with Gallery. We will provide CSS code.

    Thank you!

    Have a nice day!

    Hi again,

    sorry about the delay and thanks for answering. My apologies also: I did delete the page that I was having trouble with; no wonder you couldn’t open it. It’s back up again now. The “home” page has the WP Gallery and the “testing… ” page has the Photo Gallery version. The photos are not the same in both galleries, but they are 150×150 px thumbnails.

    Meanwhile, I have managed to get at least 3 columns to show with Photo Gallery on my phone screen vs. 5 “mini” thumbnails on the WP gallery… this is much better than the single column I had before and actually acceptable. However, if there were to be a way to duplicate the 5 column WP Gallery effect (on small screens) or even a 4 column one, that would be even better. I would love to hear your suggestions.

    Many thanks.

    Fritz.

    Dear Fritz,

    Please add the below-written CSS code into Appearance > Customize >Additional CSS:

    @media only screen and (max-width: 600px) {
      .bwg-item {
        width:20% !important ;
      }
    }

    Thank you!

    Have a nice day!

    THANK you; it worked — That was sooo helpful.

    Best,

    Fritz.
