Support » Plugins » Photo Gallery

  • now, i know this has been brought up quite a few times, as i have done my searched through the forums. i have also tested out some of the addons which people have made. however, i still can’t seem to find exactly what i’m looking for, or maybe i didn’t quite use the addon correctly.
ok, so here’s my situation. i am currently in the process of designing a community blog type of site for some of my friends, as they are all on free blog sites such as xanga. previously, when designing my own blog (ie one user, multiple categories), i easily got away with simple to use php scripts such as CuteNews. but now, seeing as i will have multiple users and multiple categories, CN just doesn’t cut it anymore. now, WordPress is perfect for the blogging aspect of it, but what i really want to incorporate is a gallery. not just a plugin that allows me to attach pictures to my post, but a full blown gallery. however, things like only users registered with a specific level can upload (so as not to allow any registered user to upload images), User1 can only upload pictures to his/her folder, and gallery categories and photos can be viewed on a seperate page or even a popup window.
now, im new to wordpress, but am quite interested as i like the idea of being able to incorporate some of my basic php knowledge directly into my templates giving me more power. but am i asking for too much in terms of this photo gallery? or can someone point me in the right direction.
thanks in advance. any help is much appreciated! 🙂

  • I would use Coppermine if I were you. You may not end up with the same table of users for both, but with the psn-Gallery plugin here, you can integrate Coppermine into your blog.

yeah, i have that installed and im testing it out. but it would require that i give the users a login/pass on coppermine as well as wordpress, as far as i can see. this is what i am trying to avoid.
as i stated earlier, some of my friends just got into blogging and aren’t all that too savvy about these kind of things, so i’m trying to keep it as simple as possible.

    Hi dsappana,
Maybe the small gallery plugin i’m developing right now is what you are looking for, it will be finished in a couple of days in a early beta stage 🙂
I developed it to be based on the filesystem, that means all description of albums and each picture is saved in small files.
I will post a comment in this thread when i got it running and a new thread, when i have a version ready i believe is stable enough for other people to install and use.

Look at brand new IImage Gallery. You can simply modify it for your purposes.

thanks alot, rummanddan. i await your plugin.
thanks for the link, ill look into it.

    Hi, dsappana.
You can se the first running version at
Though the site is in danish, it should be possible to browse it to see it in action. The backend is directly integrated into wordpress. What is working there is 100% file system based.
The second album, is 3 screenshots from the wp-backend. Its fairly simple.
Missing at the moment, before “public” release:
    – Recursive delete for directories (missing backend implementation)
    – Language support (The frontend is atm. in danish)
    – Installation procedure.
(dont mind the slow internet line, the site is hosted on my personal internet connection)
    Best regards.

cool! i’ll take a look at it after… can’t seem to access it now. thanks alot! 🙂

My internet line was down, had to reset the cable modem, its up and running again. Im gonna make this a plugin for 1.3, but with the ability to make it workable in 1.2.
