Phantom Post Type

  • So I’m struggling figuring out where the page below is pulling a template from:

    http://innovativeobjects.ptstest123.com/careers

    Backstory:
I have a custom post type named “careers” (actual name).
I had a “careers.php” template and a blank “/careers/” page that simply used the “careers.php” template to show information. Same has creating a blank “/news/” page and assigning it to the “posts page” under settings->reading.

    Problem:
I have COMPLETELY deleted the “careers.php” template from the files and PERMANENTLY deleted the “/careers/” wordpress page; However, the page above is till pulling the information from “careers.php”.

I assume it has something to do with the custom post type having the same name as the “/careers/” page since I’m using “Post name” permalinks.

I’ve re submitting my permalinks thinking it may be a redirect issue with no effect. Also cleared cache.

    Any suggestions welcomed!

  • UPDATE:
Problem solved… I don’t remember doing it but apparently I overwrote my index.php file with the same contents as careers.php.. so when careers.php was no longer there it defaulted to index. LOL..
