Support » Plugin: All in One SEO Pack » Persistent "Welcome" Popup on every pageload in Admin

As a normal routine, we update plugins when we see updates available. We saw an update for All In One SEO Pack (not Pro) today, so we went ahead and installed the update.

Now since that update we’ve been unable to add new posts or deactivate/activate plugins, or do much of anything except clear out spam entries.

Additionally, whenever we go to another page in the Admin area we get the chirpy blue and white “Welcome to Version!” popup with the following text:

Thank you for running the latest and greatest All in One SEO Pack ever! Please review your settings, as we’re always adding new features for you!

We checked our AIOSEO settings, need no changes and clicked “update settings” anyway, but that doesn’t make that popup stop showing up. We can’t deactivate the plugin either.

We need to publish a new post and we can’t. Greatly frustrated.

Closing the popup should make it go away. Also try dismissing it while on the All in One SEO Pack settings page, and see if that makes a difference. As a last resort, you can comment / remove lines 561 and 2151 ( “$this->add_admin_pointers();” ) in the current version of the plugin. It’s possible that you’re running into a conflict with another plugin and/or an issue with Javascript running in the admin; for this feature to work correctly, it relies on using the admin pointers in WordPress, and the dismissed_wp_pointers user meta option for the current user.

I’m having the same problem with 2.1. Dismissing the popup on any page, including the plugin’s General Settings, Performance, and Feature Manager pages does not prevent it from re-appearing on the next page load.
