What should the permissions be set to for the /wp-admin/ folder?

When I try to access my dashboard I’m getting the error:

    Forbidden

You don’t have permission to access /wp-admin/ on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

This started after I updated to the latest version. I have tried a manual reinstall.

  • Folders should be 755, files should be 644

Also, are you sure you have uploaded all the files ?

I’ve done it multiple times, so all files should be there. Is there a list somewhere I can compare it to?

I also double checked the permissions, and they are set correctly.

    Hmmm…

After putzing around with it, and then reuploading the wordpress files again, it seems to be working.

Is there a list somewhere I can compare it to?

Trial Beyond Compare , an excellant tool for comparing files/folders, and you can do it ‘Local’ <–> ‘Remote’ (your website)
