# permissions for upload

 * Hi I got it all working,
    but do I need the chmod the upload dir. It doesn’t 
   work otherwise. Is this an expected install step or did I miss something? Thanks

 * You didn’t miss anything, but from what I’ve gathered, some people do, some people
   don’t.

 * Ahh, I see, thanks.
    But this means to use the upload functionality I need to
   chmod which is ok as long as I know it beforehand. Another maybe related issue
   was =>the creation of another dir for the uploaded files. I had to do it manually
   on the server – which is ok but again then I don’t understand the interface it
   should mention that. Thomas

 * What does all of this mean? I cannot execute install.php. It says can’t find 
   database when it is there. What do I do?
