    Wordpress: 3.0.3 Theme: [Simplr](http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/simplr)
   FTP client: Filezilla
 * Two questions:
 * 1) I updated WordPress and now I have to change my permissions again so I can
   edit my theme. I know how to change my permissions. But I don’t know from which
   files and folders I should change my permissions.
 * 2) Some of my folders are already 777, is this in any way damaging or undesireable?
   Or does it not really matter? Should I stand on the WordPress folder and change
   the permissions to 755 or lower and recurse into subdirectories out of safety?
 * I hope I am making sense, I just really don’t know what to do with these permissions.
 * Answers are very much appreciated. Please do keep in mind that I am only a beginner
   when it comes to WordPress.
 * Thanks in advance.

 * Althought that’s a lot of usefull info, I still don’t know what to do with the
   following:
 * When the permissions to my WordPress folder, recursing into subdirectories, was
   766, I could not even login into WordPress.
 * Now that I’ve changed the permissions to 777, recursing into subdirectories,
   I can login again and edit the appearance of my theme. But this isn’t really
   safe is it?
 * So what files do I change to what permissions in a manner that it is safe but
   that I can also login into WordPress and change the appearance of my theme.
 * Thanks in advance.
