  • A client of mine did something to the core WP php files, the theme or our server and we are locked out:

Warning: require(/home/youvecha/public_html/wp-includes/load.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/youvecha/public_html/wp-settings.php on line 21

Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘/home/youvecha/public_html/wp-includes/load.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/youvecha/public_html/wp-settings.php on line 21

Any ideas as to what happened? How can I fix it? When would have load.php been used?

I would simply re-upload the core files via FTP and see if that helps.

If not, perhaps delete the theme and plugins (via FTP — make sure you keep copies).

See if that gets you in and then re-upload the theme and plugins one by one and see which one is causing the error.
