Permission and pending messages, with a bbPress forum

I’m trying to create new topics in a bbPress forum.

When I login as a site administrator and a forum keymaster, I get an “Error: You do not have permission to create new topics” message. I don’t recall not being able to create new topics before allowing Akismet to actively prevent forum spam, but I also changed other things after allowing Akismet, other things that might have led to either or both of the two problems that I have now.

The second problem is that, after I logged in as a site subscriber and a forum participant, I got a “This topic is pending moderation” message, and then I couldn’t find the status of the topic over 19 hours later.

Do you have advice?

Could you try disabling Akismet and seeing if these problems persist? I don’t think that Akismet is causing them, but it would be nice to have confirmation.
