  • Try changing the permissions on the wp-content directory to 766. If you still have problems, try 767, 775 or 777. Once your uploads are working, change the permissions on wp-content back to 755 again and check that everything still works OK.

Well i did install wordpress without any problem when i did the root directory to 777 but one error stays the same when in import wordpress it gives me this error

Warning: copy(/domains/abc.com/DEFAULT/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/homeless.wordpress.2012-02-28.xml_.txt) [function.copy]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /domains/abc.com/DEFAULT/wp-admin/includes/file.php on line 348

Sorry, there has been an error.
The export file could not be found at /domains/abc.com/DEFAULT/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/homeless.wordpress.2012-02-28.xml_.txt. It is likely that this was caused by a permissions problem.

i also set it permission to 777 but same error. wht shld i do?

Try asking your hosts for assistance. It may be a folder ownership issue.

isn’t there any other way to upload the .xml file?

I was able to install fresh copy of wordpress but i see a difference, there is no header menu under appearences. the build is latest. culd it be something else?

there is no header menu under appearences

    No – that’s a theme-specific option.
