• I fully support striving for an uncluttered look in the post editor, but on a site where certain Typography extras are always used for at least one paragraph in every single post, it’s more than a bit annoying that these Typography settings are now always hidden by default – forcing editors to manually unhide the settings for every single paragraph that needs to have them applied, in every single post.

From a workflow perspective this makes no sense at all. What would make sense is for WP to simply make the visible/hidden states of all settings “sticky” so that users are allowed to choose for themselves what settings/features to leave on-screen at all times (not only is that the only Pro approach, but it’s also already the case for most other settings/features of WordPress, which makes it even harder to understand why WP is now auto-hiding these particular settings).

Or am I missing something? Is there already a way to permanently unhide certain Typography extras for a site (without hacking the site)?

    If so, please advice, thanks!

I’m not aware of any simple way to have typography options be persistent. You’d need a script that essentially ticks the options for you on page load. I do see your point about how cumbersome the current situation is. I suggest raising an issue in the Gutenberg project’s Github site. Please make an effort to ensure via search that a similar issue has not already been raised. Raising an issue does require free registration at Github.
