If I click the Dashboard then there is a tab called: ‘Permanent Block List’. When is this used? And how do I use this and add ip-numbers/ranges to that list?

Any pros/cons regarding using the Permanent Block List versus using Blacklist Manager?

    Hi
    They are different lists.
The “blacklist manager” uses apache directives to block IP addresses.

The “permanent block list” works at the PHP level.

Currently this list can only be used as follows:
    1) from the “User Registration” settings in the “Approve Registered Users” list.
If you have enabled the manual registration approval feature, when someone tries to register on your site and their registration is pending, you can hover over userID column for their entry and click the “Block IP” link if you think they are spammers.
(alternatively, you can also block someone via Bulk actions dropdown list if you select multiple records using the checkboxes)

    2) from the SPAM menu in the “Comment SPAM IP Monitoring” tab where you can similarly block an IP address from the list table (similar to the above)

Currently, you can’t manually add IP addresses to the permanent block list however I am working on adding this feature too.
