# Permalinks & WP in Subfolder

 * Hello,
    I’ve installed a site and a blog in a shared hosting service. – Main 
   site = bandaranayake.sch.lk – Blog site = bandaranayake.sch.lk/blog
 * I’m having a shared hosting and sub domain for my site. The problem I’m having
   is I can’t use pretty permalinks for my blog. I was somehow able to use pretty
   permalinks (using /index.php/%category%/%postname%/) for my main site after lot
   of search in the net. But I’m unable to get the pretty permalinks working for
   the blog. Please help me!!!
    Sorry for my bad English.
 * _FYI_
    Path for main site is /www/sch/b/a/n/bandaranayake/ Path for blog is /
   www/sch/b/a/n/bandaranayake/blog/ (can’t change the directory structure and is
   fixed)

 * I found why. Permalinks with unicode (post and category slugs are in sinhala 
   unicode) is the reason for pretty permalinks not working and actually having 
   wordpress in a subfolder is not an issue. Links work fine when default permalinks
   are used.
 * But I can’t figure out why permalinks with unicode is really being the problem.
   Server not supporting?
