Support » Fixing WordPress » Permalinks to show page titles

  • I have several pages which I would call static; they are not expected to change. I want to get the URL page titles to just simply show the name of the page with nothing else, for example I have looked at many articles but have not found the answer. The theme I have is Twenty Eleven.

The permalink setting for ‘post name’ solves the page title issue but when I change permalink settings to anything but the ‘default’ one, the pages only show the message “404, not found.”

Another issue, which may or may not be related to this, is that I want to delete the comment field on each page and have a comment field only on the page called ‘Blog.’ For some reason, the whole setup is reversed – the Blog page is the only one with no comment field available.

    Thank you for your help.

  • Try saving the permalinks twice, I don’t know if that bug was ever really truly fixed.

As far as comments, you should be able to disable comments for a page or post specifically in the discussion area when editing the page/post directly. If you don’t see it, make sure it is selected under Screen Options in the top right corner.

Thank you – your advice helped regarding the comments issue.

My main issue, however, remains – changing permalinks to anything but ‘default’ causes the pages to show ‘not found’ error 404. I tried saving permalink changes several times.

There must be a way to have page-name URL page addresses for static pages…
    I’ll appreciate any suggestions.
