# Permalinks – Timestamp only

 * My permalink URL is too long. It links to the blog date/timestamp and the post
   title. How do I get it to link to the timestamp only?

 * Change the permalink structure as you desire in the Permalinks options page, 
   and update your .htaccess with the new rules.

 * I have a question: do you imply that there is a more recent version of Word Press
   that takes care of the problem described in [http://wordpress.org/support/4/7422](http://wordpress.org/support/4/7422)
   and earlier on in [http://wordpress.org/support/3/7299](http://wordpress.org/support/3/7299)?
   Because on my blog, comments don’t work as you can see here: [http://www.dutch-double.net/wordpress/index.php](http://www.dutch-double.net/wordpress/index.php)
   And I made sure it was nothing with e.g. skinning by creating [http://www.dutch-double.net/wordpress2/index.php](http://www.dutch-double.net/wordpress2/index.php)
   with nothing changed to templates and the like. It works as long as I use the
   timestamps in combination with either the title slug or the ID, but NOT with 
   timestamps only !

 * The nightlies fix most of those problems. However, trackback permalinks are only
   generated for structures that contain %post_id% or %postname%. I’ll look into
   fixing that. I need to double check that the comment link now works for timestamp
   structures. If you try a nightly build and still have comment link problems, 
   open a bug and I’ll get to it.

 * All issues should now be fixed. See bug [0000194](http://mosquito.wordpress.org/bug_view_page.php?bug_id=0000194).
   Try out the next nightly. If you notice any more problems, add a comment to the
   bug.
