Permalinks, Pages & .htaccess

Well you know when you create a page and you are using permalinks you have to update your htaccess file with the latest code from the permalinks page everytime. So I am just wondering if you are planning to make over 100 or so pages is it a wise idea to use permalinks at all? Like wouldn’t that really clutter your htaccess file and possibly increase your site load times.

Or is there a plugin that or any hacks that makes using permalinks with pages something similar to the way posts are permalinked? Or do I just have to wait for WP 1.6? Or should I just make the pages and update the htaccess file with all the information (if it doesn’t greatly increase load times)?

Load time will be small enough not to worry about.
Have you set your .htaccess to 666 ? That way, WP will do the code updating for you. That said, you may wish to leave it at 644 normally.
