• I moved my wordpress files to a subdirectory utilizing the information on this page: Giving WordPress Its Own Directory
I was successful with it however it appears that the permalinks are broken and as far as I can tell it is just the images.

I tried going to settings/permalinks and updating but it did not fix it. How do I fix this?

Should I download the database and do a find/replace and change them all to the to the subdirectory?

Sure could use some help! Thanks, Joe

As additional to this I went in and looked at a bunch of images and they are all showing the subdirectory in their url but for some reason the widgets and posts are not updating the images but the posts are all good showing all the posts text???

Images are in the correct place, what it sounds like is that it’s just images in posts?

When you create posts or pages in WordPress and insert media it usually inserts them using a absolute URL (for example http://www.mysite.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/my-image.jpg) since you’ve changed where everything is these links no longer work and need updating.

You can try a plugin like this https://wordpress.org/plugins/better-search-replace/ I’ve not used it myself but it should help you without having to mess around with the DB. Try to avoid manually updating the DB as some strings will be serialized with in the tables and could produce “unexpected” results if you start messing around.

If you don’t have 100’s posts if might be worth just manually updating the image URLs in the post editor.

Thanks mojowill, I am about to give this a go. To better understand my site is http://www.jozepfit4life.com but the sub folder is http://www.jozepfit4life.com/wordpress

So I would want to search for http://www.jozepfit4life.com in all tables and replace with http://www.jozepfit4life.com/wordpress

    Does that sound correct

BTW I did backup my database

I’d start with that and cross your fingers!

I did it and it broke my site! However I restored the backup so I’m back where I was.

I guess I could manually go in and update then all in the posts but what about archived, tagged, categories will these be a problem also or not?

It is only the images. Perhaps just try and find and replace on your posts table?

Categories, tags etc aren’t affected it is only the individual post content that we need to edit.

Looks like you’ve only got a few posts anyway so just go in to each post and edit the link to the media for each one.
